Changing Hot Keys

Capture provides you with several different options for recording images. Some of these options have shortcut hot keys assigned to them. For example, the default shortcut for capturing a full screen image is CTRL+SHIFT+F. If you want, you can change the hot key combinations for any of these options (e.g., you can change the CTRL+SHIFT+F shortcut to, say, CTRL+ALT+F).

How to Change Hot Keys

  1. Do one of the following, depending on the part of the user interface you are using:
    • Ribbon Select File > Options.

ClosedSwitching between ribbons and the tool strip… You can use the Interface tab of the Options dialog (File > Options) to switch between ribbons and the classic tool strip layout.

ClosedMore about ribbon options… Keep in mind that the smaller the application window becomes, the more the options in a ribbon shrink. Therefore, you might only see a small icon instead of text, or you might see only a section name displayed with a down arrow to access the options in it. You can hover over small icons to see tooltips that describe them. You can also enlarge the application window or click one of the section drop-downs in the ribbon to locate a hidden feature.

    • Tool Strip Select Tools > Options.

    The Options dialog opens.

  2. Click the Hot Keys tab.

Note You can also quickly access this dialog by selecting Tools > Configure Hot Keys in the menu interface, or by pressing CTRL+J on your keyboard.

  3. In the Action section, select the option whose hot keys you want to change.
  4. In the Key Assignment section, select the hot key that you want to assign to the option.
  5. (Optional) In the Modifier Key Assignment section, you can select the Control Key, Shift Key, and/or Alt Key check boxes if you want to use a combination for the shortcut. For example, if you select D from the list to the right and add check marks to the Shift Key and Alt Key boxes, the new shortcut for the option will be SHIFT+ALT+D.
  6. (Optional) In the Options section, you can return to the factory default keyboard shortcuts by clicking Reset to Factory Defaults.
  7. (Optional) In the Options section, you can turn off the hot key feature by checking the Disable Hot Keys check box.
  8. Click OK.
