Disabling Hot Keys
Capture provides you with several different options for recording images. Some of these options have shortcut hot keys assigned to them. Occasionally, you might have other applications open that use identical hot keys to those in Capture. Normally, Capture's hot keys override those from other open applications (if they are identical), even if Capture is minimized and the other application is active. However, you can disable the hot keys in Capture so that you can use any identical hot key in another application.

Let's say that you are using Capture to record images of your company's software application called "FictionSoft Pro." Capture has a shortcut key for recording a "region" on your screen (CTRL+SHIFT+R). However, FictionSoft Pro also uses CTRL+SHIFT+R as a shortcut to perform a particular task. If you need to perform this task in FictionSoft Pro in order to create the image that you need, you should first disable the hot keys in Capture.
How to Disable Hot Keys
- Do one of the following, depending on the part of the user interface you are using:
Ribbon Select File > Options.
- Tool Strip Select Tools > Options.
The Options dialog opens.
-
Click the Hot Keys tab.
Note You can also quickly access this dialog by selecting Tools > Configure Hot Keys in the menu interface, or by pressing CTRL+J on your keyboard.
Note You can also quickly disable the hot keys feature by selecting Tools > Disable Hot Keys in the menu interface. A check mark will appear next to the menu option. Perform this step again to enable the hot keys. The check mark will be removed.
- In the Options section, you can turn off the hot key feature by checking the Disable Hot Keys check box. To enable hot keys again, un-check the check box.
