A plug-in API lets you integrate Contributor with DLLs that you produce. For example, you might want to add customized ribbons, menus, or toolbar buttons to Contributor.
For details on creating DLLs for integration with Contributor, see http://www.madcapsoftware.com/downloads/redistributables.aspx. The information provided is intended for developers or those who are very familiar with APIs and DLLs.
Once you have a DLL, you can follow the steps below to integrate it with Contributor.
- Make sure Contributor is not open.
- In Windows paste your DLL file in the Contributor.app\Plugins folder where you have installed Contributor. Place the file within a subfolder under Plugins. For example, it might be C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Contributor V8\Contributor.app\Plugins\NavigationPlugin. Please note that this is just an example. Your files might be in different folder than C:\Program Files.
- Launch Contributor.
- Select File>Options. The Options dialog opens.
- Select the Plugins tab. You should see a row that represents your DLL.
- Click OK.
- Restart Contributor.
Note: You can also use the Plugins tab in the Options dialog to disable the plugin.
