Removing Inline Formatting

You can use the Remove Inline Formatting option to get rid of any local formatting in a selection or even an entire document or topic.

How to Remove Inline Formatting

  1. Open the document or topic.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Place your cursor in the tag where you want to remove the formatting. For example, if you have bold text in a sentence, you do not need to highlight that bold text; you only need to have your cursor somewhere in the tag.
    • Select the content with the formatting that you want to remove so that the content is highlighted. If you want to remove inline formatting throughout the document or topic, you can press CTRL+A to select everything.
  3. Select Home > . The inline formatting is removed.
  4. Click Save the active file. to save your work.

Note By clicking , you remove all inline formatting, including any span classes that have been applied to whatever text you have selected to be unformatted.

Note This feature also works for local formatting inside tables. However, only the cells (e.g., background color) and their content (e.g., bold text) are affected. Any inline formatting within table tags (e.g., <table>, <tr>, <col>) is not affected.
