Aligning Text in Frames
You can easily align text and content in a frame both vertically and horizontally. This can be done from the Layout drop-down in the Page Layout Editor or from the Alignment tab in the Frame Properties dialog.
How to Align Frame Text
- Open a page in a page layout.

Select the frame whose text you want to align.
Note You can do this only for header, footer, or decoration frames. You cannot align text in body frames.
- Do one of the following:
- In the local toolbar, click
. Then select Vertically Align or Align, depending on whether you want to align the text vertically or horizontally.
- Double-click the frame. In the Frame Properties dialog, select the Alignment tab.
- In the local toolbar, click
- Select one of the alignment options.
Horizontal Alignment
- Left Aligns the text horizontally along the left edge of the frame.
- Center Aligns the text horizontally at the center point of the frame.
- Right Aligns the text horizontally along the right edge of the frame.
- Justify Spaces the text in the frame so that both the left and right sides are aligned.
- Default Resets the alignment of the text in the frame to the default (inherited) setting.
Vertical Alignment
- Top Aligns the text vertically along the top edge of the frame.
- Middle Aligns the text vertically at the middle point of the frame
- Bottom Aligns the text vertically along the bottom edge of the frame.
- If you have opened the Frame Properties dialog, click OK.
- Click
to save your work.
Note If you set the alignment of text on a frame, it will take precedence over the style of paragraphs inside the frame.
