Some meta tags are industry standards. For example, search engines such as Google recognize several meta tags that you can add to your files. In some cases, Flare might even automatically add an industry standard meta tag to your output for you (e.g., the viewport meta tag).
You can also create your own unique meta tags for whatever purposes you want. For example, you might use a meta tag as part of some JavaScript that you include in topics, or you might create some unique meta tags for content management purposes or to display certain kinds of micro content in your output.
