Pasting Cells Within a Table
You can copy cells from one table to another. If you copy cells from a table, then place your cursor within a single table cell and paste the contents, a paste icon displays to the right. This icon lets you specify how you would like to handle the pasted cells. You can also set the default behavior for similar actions in the future.
How to Paste Cells Within a Table
- Open the content file.
- Select the cells so that they are highlighted.
- Press CTRL+C on your keyboard.
- Open the content file (e.g., topic, snippet) containing the table that you want to paste into.
- Do one of the following:
- You can select the same number of cells if you simply want to transfer the cell text into them.
- Click in a single table cell.
- Press CTRL+V on your keyboard.

(Optional) You can click on the Paste icon and select any of the following options from the menu.
- Paste Cells Paste the copied cells, replacing the cells nearest to where you have placed your cursor.
- Paste Table Paste the copied cells as a separate table. It will be placed within the cell where you have placed your cursor.
- Paste (Above) Paste the copied cells above the cell where you have placed your cursor.
- Paste (Below) Paste the copied cells below the cell where you have placed your cursor.
- Paste (Left) Paste the copied cells to the left of the cell where you have placed your cursor.
- Paste (Right) Paste the copied cells to the right of the cell where you have placed your cursor.
- Set Default Open the XML Editor tab in the Options dialog, choose the type of behavior you want to use automatically when performing this action in the future, and click OK.
- Click to save your work.
