Select Frame Text Dialog
The Select Frame Text dialog is used to choose an existing snippet for a frame. This is often used to insert page numbers or Heading variables into frames. You can also create custom snippet templates and select them from the dialog. See About Snippets, Inserting Page Numbers into Frames, and Heading Variables. How to Open This Dialog
- Open a page in a page layout.

Click on the frame to which you want to add a page number, Heading variable, or another snippet.
Note You can insert content only into header, footer, and decoration frames. You cannot insert content into a body frame (which automatically displays content from your topics).
- Do one of the following:
In the local toolbar, click

- Right-click the frame and select Select Frame Text.

Template Folders |
Lists the folders containing templates for the type of item you are working with. The "Factory Templates" folder holds templates that are provided by Flare Desktop. The other folders hold your own customized templates that you can create. When you select one of the folders, the available templates are listed to the right in the "Templates" section. |
Templates |
Lists the templates associated with the folder selected to the left. What are templates? A template is an existing project or file that serves as the basis for a new one, providing preset content, settings, or formatting. Following are special templates provided by Flare Desktop:
Tip You can change the look of the page number (e.g., remove the dashes or parentheses). To edit the text or content around a page number, continue inserting the page snippet as it is. After it is added to the frame, click on the frame and press F2. In the Frame Contents window pane, modify it as necessary. This is also true for the other snippets that you insert. Once they are inserted, you can use the Frame Contents window pane to modify them. |

Opens the Template Manager. This lets you manage any of your template files (e.g., add new templates, enter descriptions for templates). See Managing Templates. |
Preview |
Provides a preview of the template (if available). |
Source File |
Displays the path of the template file after you select it in the Templates section. You can also click the browse button to search for file that you want to import. |
