Retrieving ServiceNow® Credentials

Before you can integrate Flare Desktop with ServiceNow® and publish output, a new entry must be created in the ServiceNow® application registry. This lets you retrieve the credentials (client ID and secret) that you will use in Flare Desktop.

The following must be done by a ServiceNow®system administrator.

How to Retrieve ServiceNow® Credentials

  1. Log in to ServiceNow® Service Management.
  2. Open System OAuth > Application Registry.
  3. From the upper-right corner of the Application Registries page, click New to create a new registration entry.
  4. From the OAuth Application page, select Create an OAuth API endpoint for external clients.
  5. Enter a new record. Provide the following:
    1. Name A name for the entry (e.g., MadCap).
    2. Client Secret Input the client secret (if left blank it automatically generates a string).
    3. Scope Restriction From the drop-down, select Broadly scoped.
  6. Click Submit.
  7. Open that new entry, and notice the client ID and secret. When creating a destination file in Flare Desktop, you will need to paste each of these when entering credentials. You might need to toggle the password visibility to copy it.
