Editing Dictionaries

You can add words to a custom dictionary when you spell check movies and click the Add to Dictionary button for highlighted words. When a word is added to the custom dictionary, it is not flagged as a questionable spelling in the future; Mimic simply moves on to the next misspelled word.

A separate dictionary is created for each language used in your collection. If you want to make changes to a custom dictionary, you can do so using the steps below.

How to Edit a Dictionary

  1. Select Tools > Edit Dictionary.

    The Open Dictionary dialog displays.

  2. Select the dictionary that you want to edit (if there is more than one).
  3. Click OK. The Dictionary Editor opens.
  4. Edit the dictionary by doing any of the following.

    To Edit an Existing Word

    1. Click a word in the dictionary.
    2. Press F2 on your keyboard.
    3. Retype the word.
    4. Press ENTER.

    To Add a New Word

    1. In the local toolbar, click . A new row is added with a temporary word ("NewWord").
    2. Click on the temporary word.
    3. Press F2 on your keyboard.
    4. Type the word that you want to add to the dictionary.
    5. Press ENTER.

    To Add an Internal Comment

    1. Click in the Comment column next to the word.
    2. Press F2 on your keyboard.
    3. Type the internal comment.
    4. Press ENTER.

    To Delete a Word

    1. Click the row with the word that you want to delete.
    2. In the local toolbar, click Use delete to empty contents..
  5. Click Save the active file. to save your work.
