Viewing Live Topics in a Browser

If you publish output to a Web server using one of the WebHelp outputs, you can take advantage of a "Live View" button in the Topic View window pane. This button opens the live topic in a browser window so that you can view it just as users are seeing it.

How to view live topics in a browser

  1. Open the Feedback file.

  2. Make sure the URL for the published output is specified in the Feedback Admin. This needs to be done only once.
    1. In the Feedback Admin select the General tab.
    2. Enter the path to the documentation in the Published Output URL field (e.g., http://www.mycompany.com/MyDocumentationOutput).

    3. Press CTRL+S or click to save your work.
  3. Select View>Topics.

  4. Double-click the row for a topic.

    The Topic View window pane opens.

  5. In the local toolbar click .

    The live topic opens in a browser window.

Note: You may need to refresh the window pane to make sure you see the latest results. To do this, simply press F5 on your keyboard or click in the local toolbar.
