Color Dialog

Displays the basic system colors that are available. Click a color to select it.

Displays the custom colors that you define. Colors are added to this area after you select Define Custom Colors, select a color on the right side of the dialog, and click Add to Custom Colors. Click a color in this area to select it.

Expands the right side of the dialog so that you can create custom colors.

Displays a color matrix. To define a custom color, click anywhere in the matrix. To further define your custom colors, you can change the hue, saturation (Sat), lumination (Lum), and the amount of red, green, and blue for each color by moving the pointer on the matrix, or by typing the numerical values. Change hue by moving the pointer horizontally; change saturation by moving the pointer vertically. Use the slider at the right of the matrix to adjust luminosity.

Drag the slider to change the luminosity, or relative lightness or darkness, of a color. The corresponding numerical value appears in Lum.

Displays the color selected in the color matrix or specified in the Custom colors boxes. If your monitor is set to display 256 colors, Color|Solid might show two colors. The right side shows how the selected color will appear as a solid color (that is, which of the available 256 colors the selected color will map to). The left side shows the "dithered" color, which is the approximation of the specified color using two of the available 256 colors.

Displays the hue of the selected color. If you change the hue, the values for red, green, and blue will be changed to match. Values range from 0 to 239.

Displays the saturation of the selected color. Saturation is the strength or the purity of color in a hue, up to a maximum of 240. The higher the saturation, the purer the color.

Displays the luminosity of the selected color. Luminosity is the lightness or darkness in a color, specified by a value between 0 (black) and 240 (white). If the saturation is 0, the luminosity specifies a shade of gray.

Displays the amount of red in the selected color. (Each color is a combination of a certain amount of red, green, and blue.) You can manually change this number, which will result in a different color being selected.

Displays the amount of green in the selected color. (Each color is a combination of a certain amount of red, green, and blue.) You can manually change this number, which will result in a different color being selected.

Displays the amount of blue in the selected color. (Each color is a combination of a certain amount of red, green, and blue.) You can manually change this number, which will result in a different color being selected.
