Example—Adding Meta Tags Using List Values

In the following example, the meta tags help to track the overall "status" of a project. This is useful for determining the progress of topics or identifying trouble spots. Meta tags that pinpoint the standing of topics can take on many different labels based on your needs (e.g., pending, approved, rejected, archived, or draft, review, rework, ready for translation, publish).

Example A manager wants to keep track of progress as his team develops topics for the next software release. The manager decides to create a list meta tag, which he populates with values: working, in-review, complete.

Level

He creates this list at the meta tag set level. Then, in the topic he selects the applicable value for topic progress.

  1. In the Meta Tag Set Editor, select Add Meta Tag > List.

  2. For the new tag, complete the Name field, and optionally add a Comment.

  3. In the Value field, enter a list item and value (e.g., working, in-review, complete).

Click at the bottom of the area to add each status to the list.

  4. Click Save the active file. to save your work.

  5. In the Topic Properties dialog, in the Meta Tags tab, find the meta tag name and select the value for the topic status.

  6. Click OK.
