Viewing Topic Comments

The following steps describe how to view comments in Feedback Explorer.

How to view topic comments

  1. Open the Feedback file.

  2. Select View>Comments.

The Comments window pane opens. Comments are listed with a preview area at the bottom, which changes when you select a specific comment from the grid.

  3. (Optional) You can use the date filter to select a specific date range so that statistics are shown only for that time frame. If you want to specify a date range, use the following steps.
    1. In the local toolbar, click .
    2. In the Date Filter dialog, click Enable filter.
    3. Select either Range or Preset.
    4. Click in the appropriate fields to select a timeframe. If you use the "Range" option, you can click on the down arrows to choose specific months and dates. You can also click inside the field and type a different time.
    5. Click OK.
  4. (Optional) Initially all comments are displayed. However, you can use the filter drop-down in the local toolbar to narrow which types of comments are shown (e.g., Accepted, Pending, Hidden).

Note: You may need to refresh the window pane to make sure you see the latest results. To do this, simply press F5 on your keyboard or click in the local toolbar.

Note: To understand the way that users enter these comments, see How End Users Submit Comments.

Note: If you want end users to be able to enter Feedback comments in the online output, you need to enable comments. This is done by opening the skin in Flare that is associated with the target, selecting the Feedback tab, and clicking Display topic comments at the end of each topic. For more information, see the online Help in Flare.

Note: If comments are not showing up in the output or Feedback Explorer after they are submitted, this could be caused by a combination of old browser cookies and the Feedback database being cleared (see Clearing the Feedback Database). For example, let's say that you submitted comments while testing your output. You then cleared the database and published the output. If you then try to submit a new comment in the output, it is not processed. In order to be able to submit new comments, delete the cookies in your Internet browser and try again. You will be asked to re-register (if necessary) before submitting a comment.
