TOC View Window Pane

This window pane lets you view topic files in your Lingo project that appear in a specific table of contents (TOC). When you view a TOC, the files appear in the same tree structure that they use in the associated Flare project. This is especially useful if you are working with a very large Lingo project, because not only does it let you filter by topic files and by TOC, but it also lets you see the order of the topics and the way the topics fit together in the final output.

When you want to translate a particular file, you can double-click it in the TOC View window pane to open it.

In addition, if you are creating a bundle or review package while in TOC View, you can hold down your SHIFT or CTRL key and select specific files to be included. See Preparing Translation Bundles and Sending Translated Content for Review.

How to Open This Window Pane

Select View > TOC View.

Lets you move the window pane from its docked position to another location in the interface. Simply click on this area and drag the window pane to the new location.

Opens a drop-down menu with commands for moving and resizing the window pane.

  • Close Closes the window pane.
  • Dock Attaches the window pane to the interface if it is floating.
  • Auto Hide "Pins" the window pane to the side of the interface so that you have more room for your workspace. You can show the window pane by hovering over the thin bar on the side of the interface. If you select this option again, the window pane returns to its previous state (no longer "pinned" to the side of the interface).
  • Float Detaches the window pane from the application so that it becomes a free-floating element in the interface.
  • Standard Tabs (Top) Arranges window panes so that traditional tabs are displayed at the top.
  • Standard Tabs (Bottom) Arranges window panes so that traditional tabs are displayed at the bottom.
  • Accordion Tabs Arranges window panes so that they are stacked with accordion tabs.

"Pins" the window pane to the side of the interface so that you have more room for your workspace. You can show the window pane by hovering over the thin bar on the side of the interface. If you select this option again, the window pane returns to its previous state (no longer "pinned" to the side of the interface).

Closes the window pane.

Buttons and Sections

Filters the topic files in the project for the selected TOC.

Lets you show or hide the small squares next to each folder and file, which are used to show colors representing condition tags that have been applied. Hiding condition tags can greatly speed the population of the window pane.

Display properties for the selected item.

Opens the Properties dialog for the selected item.

Lets you create a translation bundle. If you are working with a translator who is using a third-party tool—such as Trados or memoQ—you first need to "package" your Lingo project in order to separate the necessary files for the translator. You can then send the "bundle" (which is a ZIP file) to the translator. This ZIP file consists of the content files requiring translation. See Preparing Translation Bundles.

After the translator returns the completed ZIP file, you can use this button to merge its contents into your original Lingo project. See Merging Completed Bundles.

Lets you save the selected file(s) and any linked files (e.g., images, page layouts, skins) to a review package. See Sending Translated Content for Review.
