Project Ribbon

Various options are available in the Project ribbon for managing your project.

Description

Click on the face of the button to add a new topic. You can also click the down arrow and choose a different kind of element to add. Either way, the Add File Dialog opens. The Add File dialog will be populated with all the settings for the item you select. You can change the selected item in the File Type field at the top of the dialog. See Add File Dialog.

Opens a submenu with options for importing different types of external files.

If you click the face of the button, output is generated for the target that is designated as the "primary" target. When the build process finishes, you are asked if you want to view the output. Click Yes if you do. See Building and Publishing the Primary Target.

If you click the down arrow, you can select a specific target (not necessarily the primary target) to generate. See Building and Publishing a Single Target.

Lets you view the output for the target that you have designated as the primary target. If the target has not yet been generated, or if changes have been made to the project since it was last generated, you will be asked if you want to build the output. Click Yes if you do. See Viewing Output.

If you click the down arrow, you can select a specific target (not necessarily the primary target) to view.

Publishes the output for the primary target to its destination(s). If the target has not yet been generated, or if changes have been made to the project since it was last generated, you will be asked if you want to build the output. Click Yes if you do. See Creating Destinations.

If you click the down arrow, you can select a specific target (not necessarily the primary target) to publish.

Deletes the Output folder for the project and all output files inside. The next time you build a target, the Output folder will be created again to hold the new output files.

Opens the project Output folder in Windows so that you can see the output subfolders and files.

Opens the Builds window pane, which is used to display targets as they are being generated. See Builds Window Pane.

Opens the primary target in the Target Editor.

Opens the primary TOC in the TOC Editor.

Opens the Stylesheet Editor and displays the primary stylesheet specified in your primary target. If you have not specified a primary stylesheet in that target, it opens the primary stylesheet specified for the project (Project > Project Properties). If you have not specified a primary stylesheet for either of those, this option is disabled. See Styles and Stylesheets.

Opens the Branding Editor and displays the primary branding stylesheet in your primary target. If this ribbon option is disabled, that is an indication of no branding file, or that no branding stylesheet is set in the Project Properties or Target Editor. See Branding Editor and Adding a Branding Stylesheet.

Opens the Page Layout Editor and displays the primary page layout specified in your primary target. If you have not specified a primary page layout in that target, it opens the primary page layout specified for the project (Project > Project Properties). If you have not specified a primary page layout for either of those, it opens the first page layout listed in your project (in the Resources > PageLayouts subfolder of the Content Explorer). Opens the Export Project Wizard, which lets you export a project, or parts of one, to another location. See Exporting Projects.

Opens a submenu, which lets you select an option to "pack" your project into a single zip file, which makes it easier to move it and send it to other individuals who have Flare installed.

  • Zip Project Opens the Create Package dialog, which lets you zip a project and select a location for storing it. See Zipping Projects.
  • Zip and Email Project Automatically zips the project, opens your email program, and attaches the zip file to a new message. All you need to do is provide the address of the email recipient and send the email. See Zipping and Emailing Projects.

Opens the Save Project as Template Wizard, which lets you save the project and its files in another location as a template. When you create a new project in the future, you can select the template project as a starting place for the new project. See Creating Templates.

Opens the Synchronize Files dialog, which lets you synchronize files in your project that are linked to source files elsewhere. See Synchronizing External Resource Files and Synchronizing SharePoint Files.

Opens the External Resources window pane, which lets you work with external resource files that you want to bring into your projects. See External Resources Window Pane and External Resources.

Opens the SharePoint Explorer, which lets you connect to a SharePoint server and work with files that you want to bring into your projects. See SharePoint Explorer and SharePoint Integration.

Opens the Map Files and Folders dialog, which lets you create and edit mappings for files in your project that are linked to source files elsewhere. See Managing Mappings of External Resource Files and Managing Mappings of SharePoint Files.

Opens the TOC Editor and highlights the location of the active topic in the TOC. See Locating Topics in TOCs.

Opens the Content Explorer and highlights the location of the selected content file within it. See Locating Files in the Content Explorer or Project Organizer.

Opens the Project Properties dialog, which lets you perform various actions.
