Project Properties Dialog

This dialog is used to view and edit basic information about your Lingo project.

How to Open This Dialog

Select File > Project Properties.

General Tab

Use this tab to view general information about your project.

Name	Displays the name of the Lingo project.
Location	Displays the path to the Lingo project.
Open Folder	Opens the path to the Lingo project.
Domain	Displays the subject category for your project. This information is entered when you create your project. See Creating Projects.
Client	Displays the name of the client you are creating a translation project for. This information is entered when you create your project. See Creating Projects.
Logs	When you create a project from source files that contain errors, such as malformed XML, the Processing dialog opens. If you click Save Log, the file is saved and displayed here. You can double-click a log file to see its details in the Log File Viewer. See Log File Viewer. Note The Log File Viewer opens in a new tab in Lingo. Depending on your window layout, this tab may open behind the Project Properties dialog.

Project Language Tab

Use this tab to select the original (source) language that your project is in and to select the target language that you want to use for translation. You can also add or remove languages from your multilingual project and select the language used for statistics.

Selecting a target language determines which languages you can choose in different areas of the Lingo interface. It is also used for the following:

Spell Check This affects the language that is used for spell checking. If you are working with a multilingual project, the language of the file is used for spell checking.
Find and Replace If you are working with a multilingual project, the active target language in the Project Properties dialog (File > Project Properties) is used for find and replace.

Current target language	Displays the language currently selected in your Lingo project.
Use all target languages for statistics and TM/MT translation	Uses all target languages when compiling statistics reports and applying the translation memory (TM) and/or machine translation (MT) to the project. If you do not check this box, only the active language will be used. Note You will only see this option if you are working with a multilingual project. Note By default, TM and MT suggestions are applied in the current target language, but you can apply them in all target languages. You can change your language settings in the Project Properties dialog. See Project Properties Dialog. If you choose to pre-translate your project during project creation, TM and MT suggestions are applied to the whole project across all languages, regardless of the setting in the Project Properties dialog.
Source language	Displays the language(s) associated with the original project or file.
Target Languages	The languages available to use in your project. Languages in bold are supported for spell check.
Selected Languages	The languages currently being used in your project. Languages in bold are supported for spell check.
	Moves a language from the Target Languages grid to the Selected Languages grid.
	Moves a language from the Selected Languages grid to the Target Languages grid.

Note You cannot add or remove languages to a project while a bundle is out for translation. You must import the returned bundle before you can add or remove languages. See Bundles.

Note The languages displayed in bold are supported for spell check. This does not mean that you cannot translate in a particular language if it is not displayed in bold font in this page of the wizard. Also, you can import dictionaries for spell checking purposes. See Importing Dictionaries.

Note If you select multiple languages, you can switch between them in the Project Properties dialog and other areas in Lingo. This makes it easy for you to create projects that need to be translated into multiple languages. You can add new languages to or remove languages from a project after all exported bundles have been merged. See Multilingual Projects.

Flare Settings Tab

Use this tab to select flattening and filtering settings for your project. When you make changes in this tab, the settings will be dynamically updated when you close the Project Properties dialog. You do not need to update the Lingo project to apply the new settings. This tab is only available if you are working with a Flare project. See Content Flattening and Dynamic Filtering.

Select variables to flatten	Select the variable set(s) you want to flatten from the grid on the left side of the dialog. Then select or deselect individual variables from the grid on the right side of the dialog.
Filter by target	Select the target whose files you want to include in the Lingo project. Any files that are not part of that target will not be shown in the File List.
Filter out condition	Select the condition tag(s) you want to exclude from the Lingo project.
Convert sub-segment snippets to text	Convert all inline snippets to text.

Note If you are creating Lingo projects from both Flare and DITA source files, be aware that DITA conditional filters are include filters, while Flare conditional filters are exclude filters.

DITA Settings tab

Use this tab to select conditional attributes to filter your DITA project. This tab is only available if you are working with a DITA project. See Dynamic Filtering.

Props	Filter to include the selected property attribute.
Platform	Filter to include the selected platform attribute.
Product	Filter to include the selected product attribute.
Audience	Filter to include the selected audience attribute.
Other props	Filter to include any other defined otherprops attribute.
Flatten conref nodes to plain text	Select this check box if you want to flatten conditional reference text to plain text. If you do not flatten conrefs, they will appear as tags in each segment.

Note If you are creating Lingo projects from both Flare and DITA source files, be aware that DITA conditional filters are include filters, while Flare conditional filters are exclude filters.

Sort Order Tab

Use this tab to change the sort order for the index or glossary. This tab is only available if you are working with a Flare project. See Sorting Indexes and Glossaries.

Select file	Select the index or glossary file for which you want to create sort orders.
Source Entry	The index or glossary term imported from the original Flare project. This field is read-only.
Source Sort As	The index or glossary sort as term imported from the original Flare project, if applicable. This field is read-only.
Entry — [Language]	The translated index or glossary term in your Lingo project, as found in the index or glossary file. This field is read-only; however, if you need to make a change, you can edit the index or glossary file from the File List.
Sort As — [Language]	Enter the term you want to use in place of the Entry term when sorting your index or glossary. These terms will be used when the Lingo project is exported back to Flare. Sort As terms for index keywords are applied to both first-level and second-level terms.

Source Control Tab

Use this tab to apply source control settings to your project, such as binding and unbinding a project. If the project is already bound, you can use the source control button to perform tasks on files in your project. See Source Control.

Source Control Providers

Bind Project	If the project is not yet bound to source control, you can click this button to do so. See Binding a Project to Source Control.
Provider Name	Displays the source control provider you are using for your project.
Database	Displays your source control database.
Database Folder	Displays the source control database folder where your project is located.
Remotes	Displays the remote repository or repositories for the source control binding. You can click to open the Remote Repositories dialog, which lets you add or remove repositories.
Enabled	You can enable or disable a provider by selecting this option. See Unbinding or Disabling a Source Control Provider From a Project.
Unbind	You can unbind a provider by selecting this option. See Unbinding or Disabling a Source Control Provider From a Project.

Project File

If your project is bound, this button lets you perform source control tasks for the main project file (.liprj). From this button, you can check in files, check out files, lock and unlock files, get the latest version of files, undo the check out of a file, show differences between files, or view the history of files. See Source Control.

Note The terminology used for these actions and the actions that are available may vary depending on the source control provider you are using.

Ignore File

If your project is bound to Git, you can edit the Ignore file associated with that binding. See Adding and Editing an Ignore File.
